What is Frenectomy (Removal of Lip/Tongue Ligament)?
Frenulum; It is the soft tissue that connects the tissues of the lips, tongue and cheeks. It is located in the mouth between the lower and upper incisors, between the cheek and the back teeth, and under the tongue.
The frenulum can be found in different ways inside the mouth. Frenulum can cause restriction of movement of the tongue, especially in children. If left untreated, it can lead to speech impairment, gum and orthodontic problems later in life. In babies with frenulums, it can cause the upper teeth to position and create space between them as the teeth form. Thicker or longer than normal frenulums should be treated to prevent greater problems. The process of removing the frenulum is called a frenectomy.

How is phrenoctophy performed?
Thanks to the developing technology, it is mostly done with laser. With laser frenectomy, a painless procedure is performed in a very short time. In cases where the frenulum is very large or deep, a surgical procedure is performed.
